چکیده
ANATOMY The small intestine extends from the pylorus to the caecum. The most fixed portion of the small bowel is the distal duodenum, due mostly to the duodenocolic ligamentous attachment to the descending colon. This anatomical landmark must be recognized to allow proper exploration of the small intestine. The jejunum is the major portion of the small lntestine with the ileum being only 6-20 centimeters in length in most small animals. The major blood supply to the small intestine is from the cranial mesenteric artery. A portion of the proximal duodenum is supplied by the celiac artery and shares a source of blood (pancreaticoduodenal) with the right lobe of the pancreas. The wall of the small intestine comprises the mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and the serosa. The submucosal layer provides blood vessels, lymphatics and nerves. Importantly, it is also the "holding" layer which must be included in any suturing technique that is used to re-appose tissue of the small intestine.

Magnetic Resonance Findings in the Carpus and Proximal Metacarpal Region of Non-Lame Horses
There are a variety of magnetic resonance (MR) appearances of structures in the carpus and proximal metacarpal region in non-lame horses. An in-depth knowledge of MR anatomy and normal variants is essential for accurate interpretation of clinical MR examinations, and it also helps in the understanding of radiographic and ultrasonographic findings. Authors’ addresses: Equine Diagnostic Centre, U...

Osseous trauma of the fetlock is a potentially important cause of lameness in mature sports horses, and although the diagnosis may be achieved by radiographic examination in some horses, nuclear scintigraphy or magnetic resonance imaging may be required for other horses. متن کاملHow Useful Is Nuclear Scintigraphy in the Diagnosis and Management of Proximal Suspensory Desmitis in the Horse?
In many horses with proximal suspensory desmitis, radiopharmaceutical uptake (RU) in the proximal aspect of the third metacarpal (metatarsal) bone is normal. Increased RU reflects an enthesopathy, which may influence both treatment and prognosis. متن کاملTreatment of Superficial Digital Flexor Tendinitis: A Comparison of Conservative Management, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Glycosaminoglycan Polysulfate
There was no difference in the incidence of recurrence of superficial digital flexor tendinitis in horses treated conservatively compared with those treated by intralesional sodium hyaluronate, glycosaminoglycan polysulfate, or systemic glycosaminoglycan polysulfate. متن کاملThe Effects of Posterior Spinal Fusion in Patients with Limitations of Anterior Approach: The Experience of Six Cases
Background & Importance: Spinal deformity is one of the most common disorders among the vertebral diseases that results from unnatural curvatures of spine, such as scoliosis and kyphosis. Spinal fusion surgery is used most commonly to treat certain types of spinal deformity. Herein, we reported the efficacy of posterior spinal fusion accompanied by instrumentation in patients with the...
